Alison Berhorst
DIRECTOR
Alison Berhorst is the Director of Childcare at 10th Street Children’s Academy. She graduated from Rockhurst University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. After graduating, Alison moved back to her hometown of Canton, Missouri. Over the next five years, she worked at the public school where she implemented speech therapy services to children from preschool to 12th grade. It was during this time that she developed her love for younger children. In 2022, Alison earned her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Administration. Currently, Alison is pursuing a Post-Graduate Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis and will complete the program in May of 2026. In her spare time, Alison enjoys spending time with her family, especially her husband, Kassidy, their son Cash and dog, Chief.
Maria Berhorst

Maria Berhorst is the owner of 10th Street Children’s Academy and brings decades of experience in healthcare leadership, nursing, and childcare. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from Walden University in 2006.
Throughout her healthcare career, in addition to hospital and hospice patient care, Maria served as Risk Manager at both Blessing Hospital and Quincy Medical Group, earning certification as a Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM). She also held executive leadership positions as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at Quincy Medical Group, where she oversaw clinical operations, quality improvement initiatives, and organizational performance.
Prior to pursuing her nursing career, Maria owned and operated Grand Central Station Daycare Center in Canton, Missouri, reflecting her lifelong passion for working with children and supporting families. Today, she combines her extensive experience in healthcare, leadership, and early childhood education to guide the mission of 10th Street Children’s Academy.
Maria and her husband, Bill, enjoy time with their four children, their son-in-law and three daughters-in-law whom they love as their own, and eleven grandchildren.
